SLA conducts cordon, search in Potpathy road

More than 50 Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers who arrived in Buffel armoured vehicles cordoned off the area adjoining the former political office of the Liberation Tigers in Potpathy road, Jaffna and searched the houses in the area between 5:00 p.m and 7:30 p.m. Sunday, local residents said.

Young men and women were subjected to body search, and all pedestrians were asked to present their identity cards.

Tension prevailed in the area during the search and until the soldiers left the area.

No one was arrested during the search, according to residents.
