Family man shot dead, friend injured in Jaffna

Unidentified armed men on motor cycles shot dead a young family man and seriously injured his friend at the family man's house at Saanthai area in Chankanai, Thursday around 6:30 p.m,.

The victim killed was identified as Thavarasa Moorthy, 24.

Moorthy was on his way home with his friend from hospital where he had given blood to his wife who had been operated upon after delivering their first child.

The injured was identified as Manikkam Mathanaraja, 21 and taylor by profession.

The Mathanaraja was rushed to Jaffna Teaching hospital where he is being treated now.

The killers chased Thavarasa and shot him dead at point blank range as he tried to escape into his house while his friend, shot injured, managed to escape.
