Vanni hunger strike continues

Displaced families in the Vanni are continuing their hungar strike for the 53rd day today to protest against the reduction in relief supplies of food by the Sri Lankan government. The hunger strikers have also launched a signature campaign on Friday, October 23, over the issue.

The Voice of Tigers (VoT) radio saif that thousands of displaced families are participated in the campaign and the Consortium of Non Governmental Organizations in the Vanni has said that the signatures collected will be forwarded along with a memorandum to the International Community and the UNO.

Sources said that although the protest against the reduction of relief food has been going on for months, the government has not reacted to it.
