Colombo court releases young mother[TamilNet, Friday, 25 May 2007, 10:16 GMT]A young Tamil mother who was taken into custody in Colombo two weeks ago on suspicion that she was a member of the LTTE was released Thursday by the Colombo Chief Magistrate Ms Sarojini Kusala Weerawardene when the prosecution told court the that there was no evidence to implicate her with any offence, legal sources said. The Fort Police took 27 year-old Alagarajah Koushalya of Veappangku'lam in Vavuniya into custody with her three-year-old child in a cordon and search operation when she was in possession of three SIM cards for a cell phone in her handbag. Thereafter she was held under detention to find out if she had any links to the LTTE, sources said. During the inquiry by the Terrorist Intelligence Department (TID) of the Police it was found that she had come to Colombo to make arrangements to go abroad, court was told.
