The Liberation Tigers put up posters this morning in many parts of the Valigamam sector of the Jaffna peninsula, warning people who have connections with the Sri Lankan army (SLA). The posters which were computer composed print-outs listed civilians by name said sources.
The posters came up in Nallur, Kalviankaadu, the Sattanaathar Kovil (temple) area, the vicinity of the Jaffna Kachcheri, Moolai, Tholpuram, Chulipuram and Vaddukkottai. The posters named persons, including women, who have contacts with the army or those who were actively assisting it. Menwhile the SLA cordoned off and searched Columbuththurai, a coastal suburb of Jaffna town this morning from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. But sources said that no civilians were arrested during the operation. No one was allowed by the army to leave or enter the area until the search was over.
