Jaffna mine toll rises

The students and teachers of Stanley college in Jaffna town have found 33 anti-personnel land mines in their play ground. The college principal Mr. Manikkam says that there more APLMs lie undetected in the school grounds, posing a great risk to the children.

The matter was taken up by him with the local Sri Lankan army commander. But the response was not positive he said.

The right leg of a 45 year old man in Kopay was blown off by an anti-personnel mine today.
