Fighting imminent along Northern FDLs[TamilNet, Friday, 01 June 2007, 11:00 GMT]Reports from Jaffna say that fighting can breakout at any time between the Sri Lanka Forces and Liberation Tigers at the Vadamaradchchi East and Thenmaradchchi Forward Defence Lines (FDLs). Sri Lanka Army (SLA) at the northern FDLs has completed preparations for a major battle, and is awaiting for command from Colombo to begin offensives, reports said. Although sufficient military hardware were moved to the FDLs during March, and early April this year, the military campaign was postponed due to the attack by the Air-Tigers on Palaali military complex on the early hours of 24 April, informed sources said. Supply lines to the FDLs in Naakarkoayil and Mukamaalai, and arrangements for evacuating casualties and injured from the front lines, have also been completed according to reliable sources from Jaffna. Meanwhile, fearing infilteration by the Liberation Tigers through the Jaffna Islets along the west and southern coastal areas, Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) has been strengthening defences in islets, sources in Jaffna said. Sentry points along Pa'n'nai Road to Pungkudutheevu, Kurikaadduvaan jetty, and coastal SLA, SLN security posts in Ma'ndaitheevu, Veala'nai and Pungkudutheevu have been strengthened in preparations for a possible attack by the Liberation Tigers when the war breaks out along northern front lines, sources said.
