Court remands 25 Tamils arrested from Colombo lodges

Twenty-five Tamil civilians taken into custody by the police from several lodges in Fort, Colombo, recently were remanded till June 12 on the orders of the Colombo Additional Magistrate Mr.Manjula Thilakaretna. The police produced them in court Tuesday after interrogation in Colombo police stations, sources said.

The police moved for remand stating that the investigation was continuing to ascertain whether the suspects had come to Colombo to participate in any subversive activities.

The police further told court that the suspects were arrested as they failed to provide satisfactory reason for their stay in lodges.
