Mannaar suffers petrol shortage

The normal life in Mannaar has been disrupted due to shortage of fuel, mainly petrol, civil society sources in Mannaar said. Two fuel filling stations in Mannaar have gone dry due to the stoppage of fuel supply from Ceylon Petroleum Corporation terminal located in Anuradhapura town in the north central province for the last three days, sources said.

A local businessman and the Maanthai Multi-Purpose Co-operative Society own two fuel filling stations that are currently functioning.

Maanthai MPCS fuel filling station located in Mannaar town has stopped selling petrol, as it has not received any fuel supply from Anuradhapura.

Thousands of motorbikes and vehicles have gone off road without petrol, sources said.
