Bakery owner in Mannaar abducted

Unidentified men abducted the owner of a bakery located at Thaaraapuram in Mannaar town Wednesday early morning around 5:30 a.m., sources in Mannar said. Michael Rajan, a father of three children, was transporting morning stock of bread in his motorbike from Thaarapuram when he was abducted.

The abductors are alleged to have telephoned Ms Pushparaani, wife of Mr Rajan, demanding Rs. 5m to release her husband, according to sources close to the family.

The abductors are said to have given a deadline of Wednesday 12.30 p.m. to pay the ransom, sources said.
