Young father shot dead along Naavalar Road, Jaffna

A 31-year-old father of a young child was shot dead by unknown gunmen along Naavalar Road area near Jaffna town at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, sources in Jaffna said. The victim was riding his bicycle on way to his mother's house when he was killed.

The victim identified as, Balasingham Balachandran, is from Jaffna Campus road in Thirunelvealy.

Following escalating incidents of abductions and killings in Jaffna, Balachandran temporarily left the area and was residing in suburbs of Colombo for the past eight months. He returned to Jaffna recently and was looking for work, according to his relatives.
