Gunmen abduct 2 Tamil fishermen in Mannaar

Unidentified gunmen abducted two Tamil fishermen Sunday night around 7:00 p.m. in Mannaar town, according to complaints lodged with the Mannaar regional office of the Human Rights Commission (HRC), and Mannar police station, by their relatives Tuesday.

The two fishermen were identified as Charles Kumar, 23, and Kumaraswamy Ratnasingham, 36, father of seven children, both from Bastianpuram in Mannaar town.

Both were riding on a motor cycle at that time of abduction.

Tension and fear prevail among fishing community in Mannaar town following the abduction, local residents said.
