I'raalkulzhi resettled families suffer without basic facilities[TamilNet, Sunday, 29 July 2007, 21:52 GMT]Resettled families in I'raalkulzhi in Moothoor division in Trincomalee district are still sheltered in makeshift structures without basic facilities, civil society sources in Moothoor said. 208 members of about 100 families were resettled in the village three weeks ago from Kinniya division. The houses owned by the returnees have been completely destroyed during the Sri Lanka military offensives that resulted in large-scale displacement of civilians. The displaced had earlier sought refuge in Aalankerni Vigneswara Maha Vidiyalayam and Eachchanthievu Vipulananda Vidiyalayam in Kinniya division after the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) offensive. School going children of these resettled families are still with parents as the only school in the village is in a dilapidated condition and has not yet re-opened due to the absence of teachers. Post office, retail outlet of the cooperative society and other public institutions in the village also have not yet re-opened, civil sources said.
