21 Tamils, 6 Muslims arrested in Rajagiriya

The police took 21 Tamils and 6 Muslims into custody at Rajagiriya in Colombo district in a cordon and search operation conducted on Saturday early morning. Six of them are Muslim undergraduates staying in a house of their relative. Three of them are studying in Colombo University, two at Peradeniya University and one at Ruhuna University. The other 21 are Tamils working in business houses and factories, and staying with relatives in Rajagiriya, sources said.

All of the arrested, including six undergraduates, are being detained in Welikada police station and interrogated.

All the six undergrads are residents of Ampaarai district.

The matter has been brought to the notice of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress and Western Peoples Front, informed sources said.
