SLFP to discuss threat to alliance

The central committee of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), main constituent of the United peoples Freedom Alliance government, is scheduled to meet Tuesday at Temple Trees resident with Sri Lanka's President Mahinda Rajapakse to discuss the current political situation following the resignation of a cabinet minister and four deputy ministers of the Ceylon Workers Congress (CWC). CWC is also a constituent of the ruling UPFA.
Meanwhile, Mahinda Rajapakse addressing a SLFP district level meeting at Kurunagala Saturday said he would not woo any constituent party to remain with the government if it decides to withdraw the support. In the meantime, the CWC leadership has been waiting for a response from President Rajapakse regarding resignation letters submitted to President's secretary Mr.Lalith Weeratunge by Mr.Arumugan Thondaman and four other ministers.
