Eachchilampaththu IDPs to be resettled

About 260 displaced Tamil families from Eachchilampaththu division in Trincomalee district now sheltered in temporary structures at Aariyampathy, Maanmunai north, Chenkalady, Kiraan and Batticaloa are to be resettled in their own villages before the end of this month, divisional secretariat sources said.

The first group of the IDPs was brought to Eachchilampaththu for resettlement last Saturday via Vaaharai in about 25 buses.

Several students registered to sit for GCE advanced level examination from August 6, were included in this first group, sources said.

Until last week about 5,500 persons from 1700 families were resettled in Eachchilampatthu division, division secretariat sources said.
