Viral disease spreads rapidly in Batticaloa

A form of viral fever has started spreading in Batticaloa, and Mr.Santhan, from the Department of Health Services said Wednesday morning, that he attributed the spread of the infectious disease to dense settlements of civilian population and weather changes.

Civilians including many children affected by the disease have been receiving treatments at the various regional hospitals located in Vaazhaichcheanai , Chengkaladi, Ea'raavoor, Batticaloa, Kaaththaankudi and Ka'luvaagnchikkudi, medical sources said .

The symptoms of this disease are high body temperature, cold, vomiting, and the symptoms may last for 3 or 4 days, medical personnel said.
