Sri Lanka Army (SLA) officials stationed in Moothoor area have told displaced Muslim residents of Arafat Nakar that no displaced family would be allowed to resettle in areas declared as high security zones in the Trincomalee district. Arafat Nakar is located close to Kaddaipa'richchaan (SLA) camp on the border of Moothoor east.
The displaced would be given alternative land elsewhere with all facilities to build their houses, the SLA has told the Muslim refugees. Fifty-four Muslim families lived in Arafat Nagar were displaced from the village in 1985. Now the number of displaced families has increased to 84. Government security forces cannot compromise on the security of the troops and have taken firm steps to ensure this. As part of this action HSZ was created and no exception would be made related to resettling residents within the HSZ, the SLA has told the displaced.
