Artillery duel in northern FDLs

The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) exchanged heavy artillery fire in Naakarkoayil and Mukamaalai Front Defence Lines (FDL) positions in the north from Tuesday 2:30 p.m, continuing into the night, residents of the areas said. SLA confirmed the exchange of fire, but did not release information on casualties or damages.

However, sources close to SLA said that these duels of artillery fire between the two parts have become routine when units change shifts of duty in the afternoon.
