Swiss Tamil children hone drawing skills

758 Tamil children, ranging in ages from five to ninteen, from most of the 23 cantons in Switzerland, participated in an art competition held Sunday, organized by Swiss Tamil Educational Service (TES), a volunteer organization administered by expatriate Tamils, sources in Switzerland said.


The art competition fosters development of creativity in children and helps to identify artistic talent, TES administers said.

Prizes for children between ages of 5 and 11, are to be awarded on regional basis, with multiple cantons comprising a region. For the 12 to 19 age group, prizes are to be awarded on a national basis, TES officials said.

The prize giving ceremony is to be held in Lucerne, Switzerland, on the 23rd September.
