Abductors kill mother in Trincomalee

Unidentified armed men shot dead a woman when she and her husband stopped foiled the attempt to abduct their 16 year-old son Thursday night around 11.15 p.m. at Anpuvallipuram, in Trincomalee town. Her husband and son were seriously injured. The area comes under the Uppuveli Police division.
The dead woman has been identified as Kumarakulasingham Sivapakialedchumy, 46. Shanmugam Kumarakulasingham, 47, the deceased husband and son Ilankairaj who escaped abduction have been warded in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Trincomalee general hospital in critical condition with gunshot injuries, sources said. The armed gang had entered the house and called out Ilankairaj. But his father and mother did not allow their son to come out of their house. Both came out leaving their son inside the house and armed gang had fired at them, according to initial inquiry conducted by the Uppuveli Police. The Uppuveli Police had brought this matter to the notice of the Sri Lanka Monitoring Commission (SLMM). Anpuvallipuram is located about five km off southwest of east port city.
