Youth shot dead in Point Pedro

Unidentified armed men way laid a youth on his way to Point Pedro and shot him dead Thursday morning, sources in Point Pedro said. The victim was identified as Poopalasingam Sabaskaran, 24. The body of the youth shot was handed over to Manthikai hospital.

Meanwhile, a woman seriously injured in the Chunnakam blast Thursday succumbed to her wounds at Jaffna Teaching hospital.

The woman was identified as S. Visaladchi, 40, a resident of Point Pedro.

The woman's death raises the number of civilians dead in the blast to four.
