Chunnaakam, Point-Pedro victims identified

The body recovered in Kantharoadai, Chunnaakam with severe cut wounds, and the youth killed in Point Pedro were identified Monday by their relatives, sources in Jaffna said. Point Pedro Magistrate Mr. K. Ariyanayagam and Mallaakam magistrate Ms. Sarojini Illankovan directed the police in their respective divisions to hand over the bodies to the family members who had identified the bodies,

The body of a civilian recovered with knife wounds and assault injuries in Kantharoadai area in Chunnaakam was identified as Patmanathan Pathmayogan, 28, a daily labourer from Kaarainakar Veethi in Kaladdi in Jaffna.

Pathmayogan who had gone missing since Friday had been abducted and killed, his family members who identified his body at the inquest at Jaffna Teaching hospital mortuary, said.

The civilian whose body was recovered in Point Pedro recently was identified as Vijayaratnam Vijayakanth, 20, an auto driver from Thumapa'lai in Point Pedro.

Vijayakanth's body was identified at Manthikai hospital by his family members.
