Budget to decide political future - JVP
[TamilNet, Thursday, 04 October 2007, 12:29 GMT]
The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP), the extreme nationalist communist party, Wednesday announced that the forthcoming budget would cause serious impact on the current political situation of the
country.
The JVP would take a decision whether to support the budget or oppose it at the appropriate time, said the spokesman and a former minister in the United Peoples
Freedom Alliance (UPFA) government, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, addressing a
media briefing. Mr. Anura Kumara said his party would not submit any proposals to
be included in the forthcoming budget. "The budget would
decide the country's political future," he said. JVP holds thirty-nine seats in the current parliament. "The working class and ordinary people are
undergoing immense suffering due to the increase of prices of
essential commodities. The government is not paying any attention to
the suffering of the masses," he added.
