Paramilitary post attacked in Ampaa'rai, 1 killed

A 16-year-old recruit of the TMVP (Karuna) paramilitary was gunned down when a group of armed men stormed a checkpost located 50 meters from the TMVP camp at Annamalai in the Chava'lakkadai police division of the Ampaa'rai district. The attackers had seized a T-56 assault rifle from the recruit, Police said.

The young recruit was identified as Sanjeevan Ravichandran, 16, from Ward 12 in Kaaraitheevu.

The other paramilitary men at the camp had run away from the camp during the attack.

Meanwhile, Sri Lankan Special Task Force (STF) commandos launched a cordon and search operation after the ambush on TMVP paramilitary.
