Police arrests Tamil youth in Kokkaddichchoalai

Kokkaddichchoalai police in Batticaloa district arrested a Tamil youth
Tuesday at his house in Chinnaveddai area in Kokkaddichcholai police
division, Batticaloa Head Quarter Police said. Three hand grenades and nine
rounds used for micro type pistol were found in the search conducted Tuesday
at the youth's house, the police claimed.
The arrested Tamil youth, Vellaithamby Satheeskumar, 22, is a farmer and a
resident of Ku'runthadi in Chinnaveddai area. Kokkaddichchoalai police after interrogation handed the youth to Batticaloa
police who produced him before Batticaloa Court Magistrate S. H. M.
Izadin Tuesday afternoon. The Magistrate directed the police to place him remand prison. Kokkaddichcholai area was under the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam control until the recent offensives of the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) wrested control from the Tigers. Kokkaddichchoalai is located 15 km southwest of Batticaloa town.
