De-mining worker shot dead in Kayts

A de-mining worker attached to the Danish De-Mining Group, living with his father in Naaraantha'nai North near Thaanthoan'ri Amman Kovil in Kayts in Jaffna islets, was shot dead by unknown gunmen Sunday evening 7:30 p.m., according to sources in Jaffna.

Gunmen who arrived in a motorbike, locked up the father in a room with legs and hands tied, shot the son and escaped. The victim was identified as Shanmuganathan Pakeerathanathan, 28.

Father, after freeing himself, informed Kayts police.

TKayts police recovered the body of Paheerathanathan with hands tied behind back, and with several gunshot wounds to his body and head.
