Key paramilitary operative wounded in Claymore attack

Seven paramilitary personnel with a key TMVP paramilitary operative, Sinnaththamby, were wounded when they were ambushed while riding in a white van at Naavaladi in Oaddamaavadi police division Sunday around 2:30 p.m. Three of the wounded, including the key operative Sinnaththamby, are in critical condition at Polannaruwa hospital, Police said.
A group of seven Karuna group paramilitary men, led by Sinnathamby, were on their way from Vaazhaichcheanai to Welikanda in the white van and all of them were injured in the Claymore attack, according to Vazhaichcheanai police. The group makes frequent visits to Welikanda to meet Sri Lanka Army (SLA) officers stationed there, according to informed ex-militant sources in Batticaloa. The training bases of the TMVP group is located in Welikanda. Naavaladi is located 35 km north of Batticaloa city.
