Youth shot dead in Nalloor, Jaffna

Unidentified gunmen riding a motorbike shot dead a 22-year old vehicle owner in Kalviyangkaadu, Nalloor, Jaffna inside Jaffna Municipality limits at 9:00 a.m. Sunday morning, sources in Jaffna said.

Thiruchelvam Jeyakumar from Muthirai Santhy in Thirunelveali in Jaffna was travelling along Chaddanaathar Road in Nalloor when he was shot dead.

Koppaay police transferred the body to the Jaffna Teaching Hospital for postmortem examinations and inquest.

Motives for the killing are not known.

Killings in Jaffna has risen in recently after relative calm for several weeks, civil society sources in Jaffna said.
