PLOTE prisoner escapes

Vasantharajah Suthaharan, 18, who was detained by the People's Liberation Organisation of Tamil Eelam (PLOTE), escaped from the group's camp at Pt. Pedro in the Jaffna peninsula, and surrendered at a near by Sri Lankan Army (SLA) camp.
Vasantharajah Suthaharan owns a video shop at Katkovalam in Pt.Pedro. On November 24, some PLOTE cadres had gone to Suthaharan's shop and had asked him to give them a Television and a video player. When Suthaharan had objected to the PLOTE's request, the group had taken him and detained him at the group's camp. Suthaharan had told the SLA that he had been beaten at the PLOTE camp for 2 days. He escaped from the PLOTE's camp on November 27. Suthaharan has been sent to the detention centre at Kankesanthurai.
