Grenade attack on SLMC contestant’s house in Vaazhaichcheanai

Unidentified persons lobbed two hand grenades Thursday around 5:00 a.m into the house of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) candidate contesting local government elections for Vaazhaichcheanai Prethesa Sabai, damaging the front portion of the house, sources in Batticaloa said. The candidate complained to Vaazhaichcheanai police that a Government Minister from the area had set up the attack.

Mohamed Ayathulla's house is located on V. C. Road in Vaazhaichcheanai 5.

Vaazhaichcheanai police are investigating into the attack.
