Train services from Colombo to Vavuniyaa have been suspended at Madawaachchi until further notice due to security reasons. Trains leave from Colombo Fort from Sunday will stop at Madawaachchi, Sri Lanka Railways sources said Sunday.

The measure has been taken to tighten the security in Colombo in connection with the 60th Independence Day celebrations organized by the Government to be held on February 4 at Galle Face Green, sources said.

Meanwhile, several roads leading to the Galle Face Green in Colombo have also been closed to ensure tighten security.
