TNA MP’s residence attacked, 2 youths shot dead

Unidentified men hurled a hand grenade Monday night 7:30p.m, near the residence of Kishore Sivananthan, Vanni district Tamil National Alliance (TNA) parliamentarian, but no one was injured, Vavuniyaa police said. Meanwhile, two youths have been shot dead in Vavuniyaa in two separate incidents.
In the first incident a youth was shot dead Monday night 6:30 p.m. in Pattaikkaadu in Ku’lakkaaddu area, Vavuniyaa police said. The body was recovered at about 1:00 p.m. by the public and Grama Sevaka (Village level administrator) and handed over to Vavuniyaa police who then transported the body to Vavuniyaa hospital for postmortem examination. The victim has been identified as S.Manoharan, 32, employed in a motor vehicle repair centre. 7.62 mm bullets (used in AK-47, T-56 assault rifles) were found scattered near the body. No arrests have been made regarding this killing. Yet another youth was shot Monday night in Pampaimadu but no further details are available.
