LTTE, SLA clash in Mannaar

Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) drove Sri Lanka Army (SLA) troops back to their positions in a fight at Pa’ndivirihchchaan in Mannar district Saturday which began at 5:30 a.m Saturday and lasted till 4:20 p.m, Mannaar LTTE Operations Command said. The SLA troops fled back carrying the dead and wounded, LTTE said.

The SLA advance into LTTE territory with artillery and mortar fire ground support at several points was met with fierce resistance from the LTTE combatants.

Meanwhile, LTTE fought back SLA troopers who attempted to advance through Parappaangka’ndal in Mannaar Saturday from 7:00 a.m to 10:00 a.m.
