7 SLA killed, 14 injured in Paalamoaddai, Vavuniyaa - LTTE

Seven Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers were killed and fourteen were injured when SLA, supported by artillery fire and using heavy weapons tried to advance towards Liberation Tigers Forward Defence Lines (FDLs) in Paalamoaddai at noon around 12:45 p.m. Saturday, LTTE command in Vavuniyaa said.

The fighting which started in the no-man zone lasted till 2:30 p.m. Additional SLA troopers were dispatched to the battle area as fighting intensified.

LTTE sources said bodies of four SLA soldiers are still lying in the area and the SLA is continuing efforts to retrieve the bodies.

Sporadic artillery and gunfire was heard until midnight Saturday, according to sources living close to the battle zone.
