Priest shot dead in Ampaa’rai

Unidentified armed men on motor cycle shot and killed Sunday around 9:30 p.m a Christian clergy at his house in Ampaa’rai town in Ampaa’rai district, sources in Ampaa’rai said. His wife, seriously injured in the shooting, was rushed to Ampaa’rai government hospital.

The victim was identified as Rev. Nielsen, 39, a native of Kurunagala district.

The victim’s wife is 32 years old.

The body of the priest is being kept at Ampaaa’rai hospital.

Ampaa’rai police are conducting investigation into the killing.
