Tigers say random explosions cause rise in SLA casualties in Mannaar

At least 23 Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers were wounded or killed in random explosions within the past week in parts of Mannaar battlefront, the Tigers said Sunday. The SLA has sustained casualties when its soldiers attempted to move around inside no-go zone and during retreats after skirmishes.

A Tiger commander from LTTE's Mannaar Operations Command in a weekly briefing to media told TamilNet's correspondent in Vanni that there were at least 23 cases of random explosions that caused casualties to SLA troops in parts of Mannaar front line during the past week.

Six random explosions were reported within the past 7 days in Chinna Pa'ndivirichchaan, 9 explosions in Mu'l'likku'lam, 5 at Koayilmoaddai and 3 in Periya Pa'ndivirichchaan area.

There have been further explosions at other parts of Mannaar battlefront such as the clash-intensive Paalaikkuzhi, he further said.
