The EPDP held a public meeting in Paashaiyur to explain their stand on the government's devolution package to the people.
This is the third in the series of meetings the group has organised in the peninsula to 'enlighten' Tamils in Jaffna about the 19 page 'rider' it has submitted to the PA package. The main speaker was the EPDP's Jaffna district deputy organiser Nizam. Many people in Paashaiyur gathered at a hall near the local St. Anthony's church thinking that the meeting had been organised to discuss the numerous problem that they face now as a result of severe restrictions placed by the army on fishing in the area. A person who attended the meeting told Tamil Net that Nizam gave the impression that the government is bound to go ahead with the package regardless of his group's opposition to it in Parliament.
