Holding mobile service violates election law, says MP

Holding two day mobile service by the Public Administration Ministry in Batticaloa on March 29 and 30 after the commencement of the election process for the forthcoming Eastern PC election is a violation of the constitution and the Election Law, said Batticaloa district parliamentarian P.Ariyanethran in a statement to the media.

Election Law and the constitution clearly states that no transfer or any service to public by government departments should not be carried out during the election period, the MP said.

The Public Administration Ministry has organized the mobile service contravening these regulations. Hence the authorities should take immediate steps to stop the mobile service in Batticaloa, TNA parliamentarian further said in his statement.
