Tamil civilian shot dead in Ka'luvaagnchikkudi

Unidentified armed men in a white van shot and killed Saturday evening a young Tamil family man in Onthaachchimadam area in Ka'luvaagnchikkudi police division in Batticaloa district, sources in Batticaloa said.

The victim was identified as Kurunathapillai Vijay, 22, a mason and a father of two children. He was a resident of Ka’n’nakipuram area in Akka’raippattu.

The killers had gone in search of Vijay in the van to Onthaachchimadam where he had gone to work in the 80 houses scheme, and opened fire on him before escaping from the scene, Ka'luvaagnchikkudi police said.

Vijay's body was recovered and handed over to Ka'luvaagnchikkudi hospital, where inquiry into death was held.
