SLA fires artillery on Northern Fronts

Sri Lanka Army (SLA) continued to pound Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) held territory since Monday night from its artillery bases in Va’ra’ni in Thenmaraadchi with artillery and Multi Barrel fire for the second day, amidst persistent rain, sources in Thenma’raadchi said. Intermittent attacks continued during daytime Tuesday lasting until night, the sources added.

More than a thousand people have left their homes in Va’ran’i fearing LTTE reprisal artillery attack on SLA Va’ra’ni artillery bases and sought safety in other areas in Thenmaraadchi.

The displaced are reluctant to return to their residences due to fear of getting caught in artillery.
