A student from Brown Road in Kokkuvil, Jaffna, and a family man from Raamaavil, Kodikaamam in Thenmaraadchi sought Friday protection with Human Rights Commission (HRC) Jaffna due to death threats by Sri Lanka Army (SLA) troops and SLA-backed paramilitaries, HRC sources said.
The 19-year-old student from Brown Road said in his complaint to the HRC that SLA-backed paramilitaries came to his house in the night and threatened him following the Tuesday killing of the former medical student who was alleged to be working for the Intelligence Unit of SLA. The trader who sought protection with HRC Friday is a 25-year-old family man with one child and a resident of Raamaavil, Kodikaamam in Thenmararaadchi. The trader complained to the HRC that he was threatened to death in the nights at his house by armed men.
