14 Tamil civilians arrested in Wellawatte, 10 in Moratuwa

Ten Tamil civilians in Moratuwa and fourteen Tamil civilians in Wellawatte were taken into custody in two separate cordon and search operations conducted by the police. Majority of those arrested on Friday morning in Wellawatte are natives of north and east and are being detained at the police station, media sources said.

Cordon and search operation was conducted in Moratuwa Thursday evening in the vicinity of Moratuwa University and its suburbs. One of them had failed to prove his identity and the other did not provide satisfactory reason for his stay in Moratuwa. However all taken into custody are being detained in Moratuwa police station and being interrogated by the Terrorist Intelligence Division, media sources said
