Five EPDP cadres injured in TMVP attack in Vaazhaichcheanai

A group of operatives belonging to the paramilitary-cum-political party, the Thamil Makkal Viduthalai Puligal (TMVP) armed with swords and machetes, attacked and seriously wounded five members of Eelam People’s Democratic Party (EPDP) Monday might 9:30p.m. in Vaazhaichcheanai outside the Pentecostal church, sources in Batticaloa said.
One of the victims Velan Yogarsa, 23, with life threatening injuries has been admitted at Batticaloa teaching hospital. The other four victims Veerasamy Vamadevan, 29, Thuriappah Vadivel, 30, Jegan Sasitharan, 18, and Thuriappah Nagamany, 32, with less serious injuries are receiving treatment at Vazhaichcheanai hospital, Vazhaichcheanai police said. The police also confirmed that a complaint has been lodged by EPDP officials regarding the armed attack by TMVP paramilitaries.
