Elderly man knifed to death in Thenmaraadchi

Unidentified intruders knifed to death a 71-year old man living alone in his house in Kudamiyaan, Va’ra’ni Thenmaraadchi, Saturday night during curfew hours, sources in Thenmaraadchi said. Kudamiyaan village is located close to Sri Lanka Army (SLA) High Security Zone (HSZ) of the 52nd Division of the SLA.

The victim was identified as Chinakutty Chinathurai.

Sunday morning, Chinnathurai’s neighbours, not seeing him outside his house as was his usual routine, had gone in search and found him lying dead with severecut wounds to his body.

Chaavakachcheari magistrate conducted the inquest into death at the spot and directed the police to hand over the body to Jaffna Teaching Hospital for post mortem examinations.

Kodikaamam police handed over the body to Jaffna Teaching Hospital Sunday around 3:30 p.m.
