Two Muslims youths arrested by Vaazhaicheanai police

Vaazhaicheanai police arrested Monday night two Muslim youths involved in robberies in Chemma'n'nodai area within Vaazhaicheanai police division in Batticaloa, Vaazhaicheanai police said.
On Wednesday May 31 evening 7:30 p.m. a Muslim civilian Mohammed Ismail Faizal of Vaazhaicheanai had gone to Chemma'n'nodai to visit his relatives, leaving his motor bicycle along the roadside. A group of armed Muslim youths arriving in the area, stole his motor bicycle and fled the scene, according to a complaint registered with Vaazhaicheanai police.
Meanwhile, a complaint was lodged at Vaazhaicheanai police station regarding three more motor bicycles being stolen from Chemma'n'nodai on the same day.
Vaazhaicheanai police acting on a complaint of stolen motor bicycles being dismantled in the premises of a house located along Thagwa Mosque Road,Chemma'n'nodai raided the area and recovered two motor bicycles from the residence of Mohammed Daaha Munaiffar, alleged to be a member of Muslim League. The owner of the house is absconding, area residents said.
Two Muslims youths Mohammed Daaha, 20, and Aathaam Lebbe Rumesh, 18, arrested in connection with these robberies are being detained at Vaazhaicheanai police station and investigated. Initial inquiries reveal that both are members of Muslim League and have been moving around in the area with arms, police sources said.
Two other youths, Asmeer and Saleem from Chemma'n'nodai, also are members of Muslim League believed be involved in these robberies, and are being sought by the police.
The arrested youths and the absconding suspects are all strong supporters of M.S.M. Amir Ali, Minister for Disaster Management services, area residents said.
