Hand granade attack on Muslim official's house in Vaazhaicheanai

Unidentified youths threw a hand grenade Sunday early morning 5:00 a.m.at the house of a director of the Department of Muslim religious and cultural affairs in Oaddamaavadi within Vaazhaicheanai police division in Batticaloa district, sources said.

The pre-dawn attack aimed at Meera Shahib Mohammed Junaid, 59, caused damage to the front portion of the house and the attack was made to threaten the victim, area residents said.

Vaazhaicheanai police have commenced investigations.
