Missing youth found dead in Nainaatheevu

A youth who had gone out with his friends Sunday afternoon in Nainaatheevu, an islet of Jaffna, was found dead Monday morning with assault injuries on his body in a barren land near his house in Ward 4. Kayts magistrate conducted inquires at the place where the body was found and directed Kayts police to hand it over to Jaffna Teaching Hospital for post mortem examination, sources in Kayts said.

The youth was identified as Velauthapillai Kirupakaran, 23, a resident of Ward 4, Nainaatheevu.

The victim’s father had lodged a complaint with Kayts police Sunday when his son failed to return home.

Kayts police are investigating into the killing.

The police handed the body over to Jaffna Teaching Hospital mortuary Monday evening.
