4 students arrested in Batticaloa district

Sri Lanka Special Task Force (STF) elite commandos arrested a grade eleven student and a grade ten student in Ka’luvaangnchchikudi police division on 15th June, while on 13th June Batticaloa police arrested two students for stealing a bicycle, sources in Batticaloa said.
The students arrested by the STF are Amirthalingam Yugathas, 18, a grade eleven student of Ward 9, Pazhlaththoappu and Murukamoorthy Kunaseelan, 17, a grade ten student of Kaa’nadi Veethi, Ka’luvaangchchikudi 1. STF arrested the two students when they were at their aunt’s house. Kunaseelan is detained in Batticaloa prison, his parents said. Details of the whereabouts of Yugathas are not known. Parents of the two students have registered complaints with the Ka’luvaangchchikudi police and Batticaloa Human Rights Commission (HRC) office. The boys taken into custody by Batticaloa police ar Jeyabalan Jeyatheepan, 11, and Nakusanathan Nimalaraj, 15, both from Thiraaimadu Murukan Koayil Veethi, Batticaloa police division. Both are being detained in Batticaloa prison. Family members of the boys have lodged complaint with HRC Batticaloa.
