Janaka Perera promises victory for UNP in provincial election

"As I have demonstrated in the battlefield, I will also show my organizational ability in the elections," said Major General (retd) Janaka Perera, sources in Colombo said. Mr Perera has been nominated by the main opposition United National Party (UNP) as the chief ministerial candidate for the North Central Provincial Council (NCPC).

Major General Janaka Perera has also been appointed as UNP defense spokesman

"I have accepted the challenge to lead UNP in the provincial council election. UNP will capture the NCPC under my leadership," Janaka Perera further said.
